Blaby and Harborough SSP offer a range of training courses and events throughout the year for teachers, school staff, sports coaches and young people. All courses are FREE of charge unless otherwise stated.

PLT Autumn Term Meeting

Date:                     Friday 17th September 2010

At the event you have a choice of workshops to take part in.  The choices are as follows:

Option A:

• Ultimate Frisbee introduction (45 mins)

Ultimate Frisbee:  An opportunity to learn about the fast-moving flying disk game and how you could introduce into your school.

• Meaningful Movement taster (2 hour workshop)

Meaningful Movement: A workshop delivered by Elaine Cowley, physical activity specialist, linked to the SAQ Early Development Movement course. This is a practical introduction suitable for all Early Years Practitioners and Primary School Teachers. Learn how to develop the movement patterns that all children should experience to develop their brains, thus creating the foundation for all learning. Learn to engage the child in a range of fun, playful and creative floor based activities.  The workshop is based on the most recent discoveries in neuro-science. Creating new neurological connections in the brain gives the child secure foundations for all movement and learning.  It gives many children a chance to ‘catch up’ with their peers physically, emotionally and cognitively and fulfil their potential.

Option B:

• Take 10 refresher (1 hr 15 mins)

Take 10:  A refresher on delivering the classroom based physical activity programme at your school to boost participation in physical activity.

• Ultimate Frisbee introduction (45 mins) (see above)
• The Year Ahead – a PLTs perspective (45 mins)

A chance to hear from an experienced PLT and SSCo about their approach to the PLT role – ideal for new / less experienced PLTs or anyone wanting to view things from someone else’s perspective.
